On June 28, 2009, Yoder Drilling & Geothermal, Inc. was proud and honored to have been chosen to collaborate with Maleno Development and ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” in making a dream come true for the Ward Family of Erie, PA.
The exterior loop portion of the geothermal heating/cooling system was the responsibility of Yoder Drilling & Geothermal, Inc., working with their supplier, Geo-Hydro Supply. They installed the system in just under 7 hours, finishing on time. Two specially engineered geothermal drilling rigs and 6 employee/volunteers worked through the night to complete the project, drilling 6 vertical bore holes 160 feet deep, and installing 2040 feet of piping. Everything went smoothly thanks to the hard work and dedication of the crew. Installing the ground loop heat exchange system in the Ward’s backyard allows for high efficiency heating and cooling of the home with significant savings on heating and cooling bills.
“I think it was one of the most exciting jobs our employees have worked on in a long time! They volunteered their time and gave up a part of their weekend to work overnight –ensuring that the job got done on time. When we started to see the sun come up we were just finishing and pulling off the site,” shared Tim Yoder, co-owner of Yoder Drilling & Geothermal.
